Timnath with kids: the splash pad, the new park, a fishing pond and a soda fountain

Where to take children in Timnath: the Community Park splash pad and its hours, WildWing Park, the pond at Weitzel Park, the reservoir beach and the soda fountain on Main Street.

· Updated October 8, 2026 · Checked October 8, 2026

Timnath is new, and its parks are new with it: the biggest opened in 2025. For a family that means good equipment and not much shade yet. Here is what there is.

The splash pad: Timnath Community Park

Timnath Community Park on Summerfields Parkway is the Town’s main park, about 25 acres: a splash pad that runs daily 8 to 8 from mid-May until the Fall Festival, multi-age playgrounds and climbing structures, six pickleball courts, two tennis courts, an amphitheatre, a dog park and fields. It hosts the Holiday Festival in December. Dawn to dusk.

The new one: WildWing Park

WildWing Park opened in spring 2025 on County Road 1 at the WildWing neighborhood: big multi-use fields, pickleball, a fenced dog park, a playground, a basketball court, a community garden and connecting trails. Dawn to dusk.

A pond and a river: Weitzel Park

Weitzel Park is a small gated park on Weitzel Street behind Costco, 4.5 acres beside the Poudre with a fishing pond, climbing structures, picnic areas and soft-surface trails. It is also the town’s trailhead onto the Poudre River Trail, the paved path that runs 45 miles from Bellvue to Greeley and is flat enough for a child on a first bike.

Summer: the reservoir

Timnath Reservoir, east of town on County Road 40, is the Town’s own lake, about 600 acres with a six-mile shoreline and the Rockies on the horizon: swimming, kayaking and paddleboarding, and fishing, which takes a valid Colorado fishing license and the Town’s shore permit as well: the license alone does not get you onto the water (the permits, explained). Residents’ shore permits are free. Open 7 to 7 or dusk, and 6 am to 8:30 pm in summer.

The soda fountain

The CF&G Public Market & Coffeehouse is inside the early-1900s Colorado Feed & Grain building on Main Street: a coffeehouse with a soda fountain, breakfast and lunch bites, sweets, and a general store of local goods. Sunday to Thursday 7 to 3, Friday and Saturday to 5. The Sunday farmers market sets up here.

Birds and eagles, across the interstate

Arapaho Bend Natural Area (on Inside Fort Collins), on the Fort Collins side of I-25 at Harmony Road, has about four miles of trail around old gravel ponds, fishing, some 80 bird species and the Strauss Cabin ruins. Daily 5 am to 11 pm. Fossil Creek Reservoir, south-west of town, has bird blinds and bald eagles in winter; hikers only, no dogs or bikes.
