Timnath sits just east of I-25 at Harmony Road, about ten minutes from south Fort Collins and twenty from Old Town. The stops below are not walkable from one spot: Old Town Main Street is a few blocks south of Harmony Road and the rest are spread along it, each a short drive from the last. Park once in Old Town for coffee, drive the middle of the day, and come back to Main Street at the end.

01 · Old Town Main Street

The original townsite is three blocks of Main Street south of Harmony Road: the early-1900s Colorado Feed & Grain elevator, the 1888 Presbyterian church that gave the town its name, the Town Square pocket park, the old school building and a handful of brick storefronts. The Town joined the Colorado Main Street Program to revitalize it, and the downtown group runs 2nd Sundays on Main from May to October.

The CF&G Public Market & Coffeehouse at 4138 Main Street is a coffeehouse, a soda fountain and a general store of local goods in one half of the elevator, open from 7 am every day, until 3 pm Sunday to Thursday and 5 pm on Friday and Saturday; the Timnath Farmers Market sets up here on the second and fourth Sundays from May to October. Down the street, The Hidden Stem at 4007 Main is a garden boutique open Wednesday to Sunday and closed Monday and Tuesday.

Getting there: Main Street, south of Harmony Road; the blocks are short enough to walk end to end. Best for: coffee and breakfast, the church front, and the market on a second or fourth Sunday in season.

02 · Weitzel Park and the Poudre River Trail

Weitzel Park is a 4.5-acre gated park on Weitzel Street behind Costco, beside the river and a large irrigation pond: a fishing pond, climbing structures, picnic areas, soft-surface trails and the town’s trailhead onto the Poudre River Trail. The Town’s rules: day use only, dawn to dusk, no swimming, wading or tubing, non-motorized boats only, dogs on a leash. The pond and the open space beyond belong to the New Cache La Poudre Irrigation Company.

The trail itself is 45 continuous paved miles from Bellvue to Greeley since Larimer County and the Town closed the last gap south of town in June 2026. Walk as far along the river as the morning allows and turn back; Arapaho Bend Natural Area, across I-25 in Fort Collins (it is on Inside Fort Collins), is the other way onto it. Timnath Reservoir east of town is for permit holders and their guests only, so it is not on this page; who qualifies and what it costs is its own guide.

Getting there: 4580 Weitzel Street, a short drive west along Harmony Road from Old Town; the gate closes at dusk. Best for: a flat river walk or a ride, and the fishing pond.

03 · Lunch by the Town Center

Two kitchens off Harmony Road open at 11 am. Mein House on Signal Tree Drive, in the center by the Town Center, does Asian-fusion noodles, rice bowls, dumplings and small plates Monday to Saturday and is closed on Sunday. G-Que BBQ on Cima Vista Drive smokes brisket, ribs and pulled pork seven days, with a full bar and an ice-cream counter; on a Sunday it is the one that is open.

Getting there: Signal Tree Drive or Cima Vista Drive, both off Harmony Road east of I-25; lot parking at each. Best for: lunch after the trail. Who else is in town.

04 · Timnath Community Park

Timnath Community Park, about 25 acres on Summerfields Parkway south of Bethke Elementary, has multi-age playgrounds and climbing structures, six pickleball courts, two tennis courts and a basketball court, all first come, first served except when a Town class, program or tournament has them, an amphitheater, sheltered picnic areas, open fields and a dog park at the east end. The splash pad runs daily 8 am–8 pm from May 15 until the Fall Festival in September, so it is off by October. The west restroom building is open year-round; the east one is seasonal. Dawn to dusk.

Getting there: 5500 Summerfields Parkway, a short drive from Harmony Road. Best for: children after lunch, a pickleball game, and the Holiday Festival in December.

05 · Timnath Beerwerks

Back on Main Street, the other half of the Feed & Grain elevator is Timnath Beerwerks, the brewery that opened in 2018 with a taproom, indoor and outdoor seating and its own beers. A food truck parks out front most days. Check the brewery’s calendar for the weekly lineup. Kids and dogs are welcome. It opens at noon Monday to Friday and 11 am on Saturday and Sunday, and closes at 8 pm Monday to Wednesday and 9 pm the rest of the week: an afternoon-and-evening stop, not a morning one.

Getting there: 4138 Main Street, the same building as the morning’s coffee. Best for: a beer and a food-truck dinner to end the day.

A simple first visit

  1. Park in Old Town and have coffee at the CF&G Public Market.
  2. Drive to Weitzel Park and walk the Poudre River Trail.
  3. Lunch at Mein House (not on a Sunday) or G-Que.
  4. Spend the afternoon at the Community Park.
  5. Finish on Main Street at Timnath Beerwerks.

Getting here

Drive times are estimates for normal conditions and vary with traffic, weather and construction; check a live routing service before you set out. Harmony Road meets I-25 at the west edge of town: about ten minutes from south Fort Collins, twenty from Old Town Fort Collins or Loveland, fifteen from Windsor and about an hour from Denver.

The park rules are the Town’s own: dawn to dusk at the parks on this page, dogs leashed, no glass and no alcohol in the parks without a Town license. Posted signs override anything written here.

Accessibility: what we can confirm

The Town’s pages for Weitzel Park and the Community Park do not state whether the paths, playgrounds or restrooms are accessible, and its Main Street page says nothing about the sidewalks. The Community Park page confirms a restroom building open year-round on the west side. The Town names an ADA coordinator, reachable on 970-224-3211, extension 1404, for accommodation requests.

Sidewalks and curb ramps in Old Town, step-free entrances to the businesses, the surface of the park paths and designated accessible parking have not been confirmed on the ground and are not claimed here; contact a business directly before relying on it. Corrections and additions to this section are welcome and published with their date.
